Seating: 9, VIP seats: 0) Duns's Willie Griesck started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. A collision led to Duns getting a freekick after 3 minutes play. Tony McGeachin hit a great ball. Patrick McLea's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Cameron McKaskill read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 9th minute of play. Dean Saunders kicked well hit freekick during the 11th minute of the match. When Joshua Alcorn fell near the penalty area in the 14th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Ellon's protests and gave Joshua Alcorn a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Duns booed when Ellon was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 14 match minutes in a wonderful position. Joshua Alcorn didn't get a good kick on the ball. Jack Dougan, 16 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. Frankie Malcolmson hit a great freekick 20 minutes into the match. Cameron McKaskill showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Grant McBurie in the 22nd minute of the match. In the 29th minute, Patrick McLea got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 30 minutes into the match, Ellon's goal looked a bit too open when Willie Griesck came free, but Ronan McCune reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Tony McGeachin in the 32nd minute of play forced Ellon's goalkeeper Ronan McCune to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Greig Tarrill hit a great freekick 37 minutes into the match. 38 minutes into the match, Duns's Jack Dougan broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. In the 47th minute Tony McGeachin shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ronan McCune saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.
The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Patrick McLea was the one to do the kick off. After a rather tough play, Ellon's Darius Robson got a free kick in the 51st minute. Ronan McCune acted impressively in front of the goal and made a superb save when he, in the 52nd minute, took the ball on the long shot from Jack Dougan. Ronan McCune took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Eric McKee, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Willie Griesck fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 56th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ronan McCune having to interfere. Through an outstanding action, after 58 minutes, Ronan McCune successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. Willie Griesck received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Ronan McCune came out and tried to block the shot, but Willie Griesck slotted it home off the left post making it 0-2 in the 60th minute. Eric McKee sent away a hard shot on goal in the 65th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Greig Tarrill fell near the penalty area in the 66th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Ellon's protests and gave Greig Tarrill a yellow card for diving instead. Greig Tarrill kicked well hit freekick during the 66th minute of the match. In the 67th minute of the match Jack Dougan shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Ronan McCune showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. After a defensive mix-up in Ellon's zone, Tony McGeachin stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ronan McCune came out of the goal and Tony McGeachin tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Tony McGeachin could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 76th minute of the match, but Ronan McCune made a huge save. With an all-out effort, Duns's Ronan McCune threw himself towards the right post 79 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Eric McKee, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Tony McGeachin came free with the goalkeeper in the 82nd minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Ronan McCune could save by the left post. If Evan McQuistan had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 87th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Ronan McCune made an important save on a dangerous shot by Tony McGeachin in the 89th minute. Grant McBurie blasted a shot towards the goal in the 92nd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Cameron McKaskill having to make a save. When Arthur McVail fell near the penalty area in the 93rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Duns's protests and gave Arthur McVail a yellow card for diving instead. Arthur McVail hit a great freekick 93 minutes into the match. Cameron McKaskill took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Patrick McLea, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When Ellon's Patrick McLea in the 96th minute got a chance for a shot 96th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Duns's goalie prevented a goal.
