Spectators: 45 (Terracing: 35, Seating: 10, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Ian Moray started the match with the kick off. Martin Sorely took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jamie Federith, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The corner led Alloa Golden Blades's Alisdair McNiter to fire away a dangerous shot which Martin Sorely despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Martin Sorely made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Bobby Collins in the 5th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Graeme Sharp in the 11th minute of play forced Greenock's goalkeeper Martin Sorely to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When the match clock showed 16 minutes, the score became 0-3 when Graeme Sharp sped through Greenock's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Martin Sorely. Martin Sorely stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Graeme Sharp's shot from short distance in the 22nd minute. Martin Sorely took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jamie Federith, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 36th minute, Jamie Federith made a precise shot to the right of Martin Sorely. Greenock's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-7. After 40th play minutes Graeme Sharp shot 0-8, a short shot which went by Martin Sorely and just under the crossbar into goal. If Graeme Sharp had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 44th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 47thth minute of the game Tony McConnell who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Greenock's Martin Sorely was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After the first half Alloa Golden Blades were leading 0-9. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Graeme Sharp to make the kick off. Ian Moray fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 53rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Leopoldo Rameriz having to interfere. Alloa Golden Blades's Leopoldo Rameriz played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ian Moray in the 55th minute of play. Johnny Bateman was astounded when the referee showed him the red card after a seemingly innocent challenge, 58 minutes into the match. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 57th minute of the game. One of Greenock:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Alloa Golden Blades:s goal. When the match had been going on for 59 minutes, Alloa Golden Blades's Tony McConnell got an opportunity to shoot a penalty. He stayed cool and waited for the goalkeeper to move, before he confidently shot the ball into the goal, to the left of Martin Sorely. After 67 minutes of play, Alloa Golden Blades's Bobby Collins made it 0-11 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Martin Sorely was left in no man's land by his defense there! With an all-out effort, Alloa Golden Blades's Martin Sorely threw himself towards the right post 73 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Jamie Federith, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Greenock's Martin Sorely played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jamie Federith in the 74th minute of play. With a little luck, Greenock's Martin Sorely got control of the ball when Graeme Sharp tried to sneak it across the goal line. 78 minutes into the match, Greenock's goal looked a bit too open when Bobby Collins came free, but Martin Sorely reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a rather tough play, Greenock's Ray McNaughton got a free kick in the 79th minute. In the 80th minute Graeme Sharp shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Martin Sorely saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 81stth minute of the game Marc Duilach who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Alloa Golden Blades's Leopoldo Rameriz was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 83rd minute Tony McConnell shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Martin Sorely saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Greenock's Martin Sorely played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Bobby Collins in the 84th minute of play. Martin Sorely showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Graeme Sharp, who was totally free with the ball in the 89th minute. Graeme Sharp's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 92ndth minute, Martin Sorely skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. Martin Sorely made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jamie Federith in the 93rd minute of play. Through an outstanding action, after 95 minutes, Martin Sorely successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. Graeme Sharp recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 97th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Matthew McGillonie received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Martin Sorely came out and tried to block the shot, but Matthew McGillonie slotted it home off the left post making it 0-12 in the 99th minute. Alloa Golden Blades played a much better game than Greenock and deserved their victory. The Greenock players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
