Spectators: 32 (Terracing: 25, Seating: 7, VIP seats: 0) The sun was shining, the grass was green and the audience cheered when Jacob Loureiro got the match started through his kick off. The audience thought a goal was coming when Catarino Gusmão got free with Amado Onofre in the 3rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After 6 minutes of play, Vasco da Gama's Jaime Severiano made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Nuno Águas was left in no man's land by his defense there! Nuno Águas came out of the goal in the 9th minute to try and stop a shot by Vasco da Gama's Jaime Sarmento. But to his dismay, Jaime Sarmento quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-2. If Catarino Gusmão had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 15th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 17 minutes of play, Vasco da Gama's Jaime Severiano made it 0-3 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. If Jaime Severiano had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 26th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jaime Severiano in the 28th minute of play forced SC Taboaco's goalkeeper Nuno Águas to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. José Ruas's late challenge caught a SC Taboaco's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. José Ruas helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, Vasco da Gama's José Ruas got a free kick in the 31st minute. Vasco da Gama's goalkeeper couldn't reach when Jacob Loureiro 32 minutes into the game got a good kick on the ball which found its way into goal just inside left pole. 1-3. 35 minutes into the game, SC Taboaco's Catarino Gusmão nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Amado Onofre made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-3. Lucílio Pinho hit a great freekick 39 minutes into the match. In the 42nd minute the ball was on its way in behind SC Taboaco's goalkeeper Nuno Águas, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Jaime Sarmento sent away a hard shot on goal in the 43rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Vasco Palhares's late challenge caught a Vasco da Gama's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Vasco Palhares helped the player get up and apologised. In the 44th minute, Vasco Palhares hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 2-3 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Jaime Sarmento made a kick off. Jaime Severiano could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 52nd minute of the match, but Nuno Águas made a huge save. When Joaquim Serpa fell near the penalty area in the 56th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored SC Taboaco's protests and gave Joaquim Serpa a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to SC Taboaco getting a freekick after 56 minutes play. Joaquim Serpa hit a great ball. Nuno Águas was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 59th minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from José Ruas. Nuno Águas showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jaime Sarmento in the 61st minute of the match. Nuno Águas took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jaime Sarmento, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Jaime Sarmento had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 67th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. With a little luck, SC Taboaco's Nuno Águas got control of the ball when Jaime Severiano tried to sneak it across the goal line. Jaime Sarmento received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 75th minute. Nuno Águas tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Nuno Águas showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jaime Sarmento in the 77th minute of the match. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Jaime Severiano during the 79th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Caetano Paião fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 84th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nuno Águas having to interfere. The SC Taboaco supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching Vasco da Gama's performance. The match ended with a win for Vasco da Gama.
