Lourenço Amorim made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from André Silva in the 5th minute of play. If Basílio Moutinho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 7th minute. After 15 minutes of play, Redundo FC's José Paredes made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Fernando Viegas was left in no man's land by his defense there! In the 18th minute Albertino Simões shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Fernando Viegas saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Armindo Carneiro charged in rather forcefully in the 25th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Armindo Carneiro the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 25 played minutes Redundo FC got a freekick which was hit by Armindo Carneiro. After recieving a nice pass, Alvarenga's Manuel Gomes tried to score from far away in the 26th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. Fernando Viegas made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Albertino Simões in the 31st minute of play. With his leg Lourenço Amorim managed to avoid a goal in the 34thth minute, when Alvarenga's Basílio Moutinho fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. 36 minutes into the game, Alvarenga's Basílio Moutinho nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Lourenço Amorim made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-1. Thanks to some nice moves Basílio Moutinho could shoot a difficult shot in the 41st minute, which Lourenço Amorim however easily saved by the left post. In the 41st match minute, Redundo FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Rui Leão to maneuver through the defense. Fernando Viegas made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from José Paredes in the 47th minute of play. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.
The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. José Paredes was the one to do the kick off. Albertino Simões fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 54th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Fernando Viegas having to interfere. Albertino Simões struck a weak shot in the 57th minute. Fernando Viegas didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Redundo FC. Redundo FC's José Paredes got a good chance for a goal in the 59th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. José Paredes fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 62nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Fernando Viegas having to interfere. 67 minutes into the game, Rui Leão was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Redundo FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Alvarenga the free kick. Albertino Simões received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Fernando Viegas came out and tried to block the shot, but Albertino Simões slotted it home off the left post making it 1-2 in the 77th minute. After a defensive mix-up in Alvarenga's zone, Albertino Simões stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Fernando Viegas came out of the goal and Albertino Simões tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After 89 played minutes Alvarenga got a freekick which was hit by José Moniz. Fernando Viegas showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from José Paredes, who was totally free with the ball in the 90th minute. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by José Moniz during the 91st minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Fernando Viegas made an important save on a dangerous shot by Albertino Simões in the 93rd minute. When João Matias fell near the penalty area in the 94th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Alvarenga's protests and gave João Matias a yellow card for diving instead. In the 96th minute José Paredes shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Fernando Viegas saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Redundo FC's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
