The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Rubim Campos struck a weak shot in the 3rd minute. Sebastião Matos didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for GDR Canas Senhorim. 8 minutes into the game, Nicolau Candal was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. GDR Canas Senhorim's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Boucos the free kick. Francisco Reis sent away a hard shot on goal in the 13th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Ramiro Rego took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Francisco Reis, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 17th match minute, Boucos was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Cristiano Jesus to maneuver through the defense. Boucos's Sebastião Matos played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Nicolau Candal in the 18th minute of play. Rubim Campos sent away a hard shot on goal in the 20th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The supporters of GDR Canas Senhorim booed when Boucos was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 21 match minutes in a wonderful position. Nuno Esteves didn't get a good kick on the ball. Ramiro Rego made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Alberto Paiva in the 24th minute of play. In the 25thth minute of the game Bernardo Garcia who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Boucos's Sebastião Matos was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Sebastião Matos made a fantastic save in the 26th minute, when Rubim Campos sent off a good shot on target. Bernardo Garcia fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 32nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Sebastião Matos having to interfere. Rubim Campos who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 33rdth minute tested the skills of Sebastião Matos when he managed to save the team from getting behind. 35 minutes into the match, GDR Canas Senhorim's Rubim Campos sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Sebastião Matos narrowly saved just below the crossbar. After having played for 36 minutes, Nicolau Candal managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. GDR Canas Senhorim's supporters crossed their fingers, but Nicolau Candal was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 38th minute, GDR Canas Senhorim's Vladimiro Sesimbra ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Sebastião Matos. Sebastião Matos yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 2-1. In the 44th minute, Francisco Reis left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Boucos fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-2. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.
The wind increased when Francisco Reis made the kick off in the second half. Alberto Paiva came free with the goalkeeper in the 53rd minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Ramiro Rego could save by the left post. After 55th play minutes Rubim Campos shot 3-2, a short shot which went by Sebastião Matos and just under the crossbar into goal. Ronaldo Jordão fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 59th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Sebastião Matos having to interfere. When Nicolau Candal came up free with the goalie in the 61st minute, the GDR Canas Senhorim fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Nicolau Candal couldn't finish the play. 62 minutes into the game, Nicolau Candal cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 4-2. Sebastião Matos was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 66th minute Francisco Reis shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ramiro Rego saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Alcides Carmona kicked well hit freekick during the 68th minute of the match. The supporters of Boucos booed when GDR Canas Senhorim was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 69 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ronaldo Jordão didn't get a good kick on the ball. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Rubim Campos in the 93rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Sebastião Matos prevented the ball from getting in the gole.
