Zarco Mendes dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. 8 minutes into the game, Caio Sá was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. PeixariaDaEsquina's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Sul the free kick. In the 8th match minute, PeixariaDaEsquina was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Caio Sá to maneuver through the defense. In the 9th minute of the match Vicente Onofre shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Zarco Mendes showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. In the 10th minute, Afonso Taveira hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 11 played minutes, Sul's Vicente Onofre shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Zarco Mendes came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Sul reached it. PeixariaDaEsquina's Zarco Mendes played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Raul Esteves in the 15th minute of play. After 18 minutes, Pinto da Costa mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Sul and the PeixariaDaEsquina players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 18 played minutes Sul got a freekick which was hit by Pinto da Costa. Cassiano Barroso hit a great freekick 20 minutes into the match. 21 minutes into the match, PeixariaDaEsquina's goal looked a bit too open when Raul Esteves came free, but Zarco Mendes reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Sul's Ivo Prestes proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 24th minute of the match, managed to save Sul from getting a goal against them. Ricardo Carneiro kicked well hit freekick during the 27th minute of the match. In the 28th minute Afonso Taveira shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ivo Prestes saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a rather tough play, Sul's Raul Esteves got a free kick in the 29th minute. 34 minutes into the game, Afonso Taveira recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Ivo Prestes. Afonso Taveira showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-1. If Afonso Taveira had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 36th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Paolo-César Maldini charged in rather forcefully in the 37th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Paolo-César Maldini the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. 41 minutes into the match, PeixariaDaEsquina's Raul Frois sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Ivo Prestes narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 42nd minute, Igor Maciel hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Cassiano Barroso hit a great freekick 43 minutes into the match. Zarco Mendes didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Ricardo Carneiro went, in the 44th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-2 was the resulting score. Raul Esteves sent away a hard shot on goal in the 48th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.
The wind increased when Raul Frois made the kick off in the second half. The supporters of Sul booed when PeixariaDaEsquina was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 52 match minutes in a wonderful position. Caio Sá didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 58th minute, Pinto da Costa hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. With an all-out effort, Sul's Zarco Mendes threw himself towards the right post 61 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Raul Esteves, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. After a defensive mix-up in Sul's zone, Afonso Taveira stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ivo Prestes came out of the goal and Afonso Taveira tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. During the 66th minute of the match Pinto da Costa completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Pinto da Costa a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. In the 67th minute, Pinto da Costa hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 74 minutes into the match, Raul Frois notched a goal, 2-2, to the right of Sul's Ivo Prestes. Ivo Prestes was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. 77 minutes into the match, Sul's goal looked a bit too open when Afonso Taveira came free, but Ivo Prestes reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Aldo Caneira hit a great freekick 78 minutes into the match. Raul Esteves received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 79th minute. Zarco Mendes tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Raul Esteves kicked well hit freekick during the 83rd minute of the match. In the 88thth minute of the game Raul Frois who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Sul's Ivo Prestes was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After a defensive mix-up in PeixariaDaEsquina's zone, Raul Esteves stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Zarco Mendes came out of the goal and Raul Esteves tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Raul Frois sent away a hard shot on goal in the 92nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Sul's Ivo Prestes played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Afonso Taveira in the 94th minute of play. After 95 played minutes Sul got a freekick which was hit by Raul Esteves. When the referee blew the final whistle, you could see the dissatisfaction in the PeixariaDaEsquina players' eyes. They were disappointed they hadn't taken more from the game.
