Ugonnatubelum Gbadebo kicked well hit freekick during the 2nd minute of the match. The audience was convinced that Tobe Salako's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Shawai Ononogbo was relentless in the 4th minute of the game. Waga Abhiele charged in rather forcefully in the 8th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Waga Abhiele the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Waga Abhiele kicked well hit freekick during the 8th minute of the match. In the 21st minute, Oluwatosin Johnson Famewo got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 24thth minute of the game Tobe Salako who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Lagos FC's Shawai Ononogbo was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Tobe Salako in the 25th minute of play forced Lagos FC's goalkeeper Shawai Ononogbo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 32 minutes into the game, Eccles FC's Maduabuchi Omorere nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Shawai Ononogbo made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-0. Waga Abhiele got his second yellow card in the match during the 35th minute which meant that he had to leave the ground. In the 35th match minute, Eccles FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Waga Abhiele to maneuver through the defense. Idris Eze showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ezekiel Akinwunmi, who was totally free with the ball in the 37th minute. Maduabuchi Omorere received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 42nd minute. Shawai Ononogbo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Ezekiel Akinwunmi had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 46th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Ezekiel Akinwunmi was the one to do the kick off. Maduabuchi Omorere recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 59th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Ugonnatubelum Gbadebo hit a great freekick 64 minutes into the match. After recieving a nice pass, Eccles FC's Shekwodiza Eorokhai tried to score from far away in the 65th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. Shawai Ononogbo showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Maduabuchi Omorere in the 67th minute of the match. When the match had been going on for 71 minutes, Lagos FC's Deyour Oyai got an opportunity to shoot a penalty. He stayed cool and waited for the goalkeeper to move, before he confidently shot the ball into the goal, to the left of Idris Eze. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ezekiel Akinwunmi in the 75th minute of play forced Eccles FC's goalkeeper Idris Eze to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Eccles FC's Idris Eze proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 76th minute of the match, managed to save Eccles FC from getting a goal against them. When Maduabuchi Omorere came up free with the goalie in the 82nd minute, the Eccles FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Maduabuchi Omorere couldn't finish the play. After 83 minutes, Laudamus Taura mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Lagos FC and the Eccles FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. A collision led to Lagos FC getting a freekick after 83 minutes play. Laudamus Taura hit a great ball. In the 96th minute Maduabuchi Omorere shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Shawai Ononogbo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The audience thought a goal was coming when Oluwatosin Johnson Famewo got free with Idris Eze in the 101st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort.
