In the 11th minute Nwachukwu Onyeomereneche shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jibril Anzigah saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Bucknell's zone, Nwachukwu Onyeomereneche stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jibril Anzigah came out of the goal and Nwachukwu Onyeomereneche tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The supporters of Sutton Valence booed when Bucknell was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 14 match minutes in a wonderful position. Esomchi Abhulimhen didn't get a good kick on the ball. 16 minutes into the game, Esomchi Abhulimhen was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Bucknell's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Sutton Valence the free kick. In the 16th match minute, Bucknell was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Esomchi Abhulimhen to maneuver through the defense. Jibril Anzigah made an important save on a dangerous shot by Azuka Obasa in the 17th minute. Solomon Ajatta charged in rather forcefully in the 18th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Solomon Ajatta the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 18th match minute, Bucknell was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Solomon Ajatta to maneuver through the defense. After having played for 24 minutes, Nwachukwu Onyeomereneche managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Sutton Valence's supporters crossed their fingers, but Nwachukwu Onyeomereneche was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Sutton Valence's Azuka Obasa got a good chance for a goal in the 27th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Jibril Anzigah showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Nonye Sasore, who was totally free with the ball in the 33rd minute. Azuka Obasa struck a weak shot in the 36th minute. Jibril Anzigah didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Sutton Valence. Azuka Obasa sent away a hard shot on goal in the 41st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Ike Abiakam had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 45th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. A collision led to Bucknell getting a freekick after 46 minutes play. Adenuga Kimitei hit a great ball. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Abazu Osiro to strike the kick off in the second half. Nwachukwu Onyeomereneche scored 1-0 in the 61st match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Jibril Anzigah, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Ajuluchukwu Gulma made an important save on a dangerous shot by Ike Abiakam in the 66th minute. Ettah Makama charged in rather forcefully in the 67th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Ettah Makama the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 69 played minutes Sutton Valence got a freekick which was hit by Nwachukwu Onyeomereneche. Abazu Osiro fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 73rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ajuluchukwu Gulma having to interfere. Ajuluchukwu Gulma showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ike Abiakam, who was totally free with the ball in the 75th minute.
