Spectators: 36 (Terracing: 28, Seating: 8, VIP seats: 0) Stanway United's Jez Oldroyd started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Craig Robinson took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 6th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Jay Collier . Oakham's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. The supporters of Stanway United booed when Oakham was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 8 match minutes in a wonderful position. Micheal Markham didn't get a good kick on the ball. After having played for 9 minutes, Jez Oldroyd managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Stanway United's supporters crossed their fingers, but Jez Oldroyd was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 10th minute, Martyn Barker hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 14 minutes into the match, Stanway United's goal looked a bit too open when Michael Medlin came free, but Danny Chivers reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Jez Oldroyd recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 15th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 18 minutes into the match, Liam Wakefield notched a goal, 1-0, to the right of Oakham's Jay Collier . Jay Collier was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Travis Gough fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 24th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Danny Chivers having to interfere. 27 minutes into the match, Stanway United's goal looked a bit too open when Travis Gough came free, but Danny Chivers reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Travis Gough received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 29th minute. Danny Chivers tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Danny Chivers showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Michael Medlin , who was totally free with the ball in the 31st minute. In the 31st match minute, Stanway United was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Dave Walmsley to maneuver through the defense. 34 minutes into the match, Oakham's goalkeeper Jay Collier had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Liam Wakefield . In the 36th minute, Dave Walmsley hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Michael Medlin fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 37th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Danny Chivers having to interfere. Pete Blake kicked well hit freekick during the 40th minute of the match. Jez Oldroyd was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 44th minute. Stanway United's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Travis Gough stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Jez Oldroyd received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 67th minute. Jay Collier tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The referee felt a red card was in order, 74 minutes into the game, when John Mannell put in a rough tackle. In the 73rd minute, one of Stanway United:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Stanway United. The goalkeeper, Danny Chivers , was totally fooled by Oakham's Pete Blake , who 76 minutes into the game made a penalty shot that went in on the goalkeeper's left side. The supporters of Oakham booed when Stanway United was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 79 match minutes in a wonderful position. Garry Perkins didn't get a good kick on the ball. Oakham's Travis Gough got a good chance for a goal in the 80th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 82nd minute, Michael Medlin got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. If Travis Gough had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 90th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 91st minute, Dave Walmsley hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When Oakham's Travis Gough in the 92nd minute got a chance for a shot 92nd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Stanway United's goalie prevented a goal. Liam Wakefield fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 94th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jay Collier having to interfere. If Travis Gough had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 98th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The second half was just like the first, even and exciting. The match ended in a draw.
