Spectators: 36 (Terracing: 28, Seating: 8, VIP seats: 0) Southbourne City's Denis Gibbs started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Dennis Nethercoat might have been able to make a better finish in the 10th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Crispin Gordon. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Dennis Nethercoat ran back to his position shaking his head. Denis Gibbs scored 1-0 in the 12th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Crispin Gordon, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 26th match minute, Southbourne City was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Dennis Nethercoat to maneuver through the defense. John Bateman blasted a shot towards the goal in the 27th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Stuart Sutton having to make a save. Dennis Nethercoat fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 32nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Crispin Gordon having to interfere. 35 minutes into the game, David Brontë was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Southbourne City's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Avebury AFC the free kick. Silvester Beadle sent away a hard shot on goal in the 38th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 41st minute of the match Jack Clegg sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Stuart Sutton skillfully saved the ball. If Dennis Nethercoat had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 43rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for John Bateman to strike the kick off in the second half. John Bateman fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 62nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Stuart Sutton having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Avebury AFC's Donald Summers got a free kick in the 76th minute. The crowd rose to their feet as Silvester Beadle kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Stuart Sutton . That made the score 1-1 in the 79 minute of play. The second half was just like the first, even and exciting. The match ended in a draw.
