Jack Beaver charged in rather forcefully in the 8th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Sam Featherstone showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Vince Appleton in the 28th minute of play forced Castle Donington's goalkeeper Gerry Tyrell to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Vince Appleton sent away a hard shot on goal in the 29th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Castle Donington's Gerry Tyrell played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jonny Bourton in the 31st minute of play. Gerry Tyrell made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Vince Appleton in the 33rd minute of play. Damien Wild fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 35th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Sam Featherstone having to interfere. Mike Bartlett received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 38th minute. Sam Featherstone tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Jack Beaver was, once again, overly rough in his play he received his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. 43 minutes had been played. After a rather tough play, Bournemouth FC's Jack Beaver got a free kick in the 44th minute. Sam Featherstone took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Damien Wild, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After the first half Bournemouth FC were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.
The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Damien Wild was the one to do the kick off. If Damien Wild had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 51st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Castle Donington's Mike Bartlett got a good chance for a goal in the 56th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After a defensive mix-up in Castle Donington's zone, Vince Appleton stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Gerry Tyrell came out of the goal and Vince Appleton tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Tod Graydon kicked well hit freekick during the 69th minute of the match. In the 73rd minute, Vince Appleton got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. A collision led to Castle Donington getting a freekick after 74 minutes play. Gary Cotton hit a great ball. Bournemouth FC's Jonny Bourton shoveled away a really nice long shot in the 78th minute of play. The shot was stopped by Gerry Tyrell but with some difficulty. Vince Appleton recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 81st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 86 minutes into the match, Bournemouth FC's goal looked a bit too open when Damien Wild came free, but Sam Featherstone reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line.
