The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. If Anselmo Spione had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 3rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Anselmo Spione fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 5th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Derek Carragher having to interfere. Nigel Hill didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Billy Feeney went, in the 9th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. Nigel Hill made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Billy Feeney in the 15th minute of play. In the 20th minute Billy Feeney shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Nigel Hill saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Ali Vedat Kabataş fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 24th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Derek Carragher having to interfere. In the 26th minute, Anselmo Spione made a precise shot to the right of Derek Carragher. Belfast Rebels FC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-1. After 29 played minutes Belfast Rebels FC got a freekick which was hit by Derek Wood. Ali Vedat Kabataş received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 29th minute. Derek Carragher tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Golo Kante hit a great freekick 35 minutes into the match. 36 minutes into the game, Belfast Rebels FC's Derek Wood nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Nigel Hill made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-2. When the match clock showed 40 minutes, the score became 2-3 when Derek Wood sped through Garstang AFC's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Nigel Hill. Nigel Hill showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Billy Feeney, who was totally free with the ball in the 43rd minute. In the 47th minute, Billy Feeney made a precise shot to the right of Nigel Hill. Garstang AFC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-4. The Garstang AFC players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Belfast Rebels FC were winning 2-4.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Kris Jewson was the one to do the kick off. In the 58th minute Billy Feeney shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Nigel Hill saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Billy Feeney in the 66th minute of play forced Garstang AFC's goalkeeper Nigel Hill to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 74 minutes of play, Belfast Rebels FC's Reuben Auckland made it 3-5 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Nigel Hill was left in no man's land by his defense there! Derek Carragher took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Kris Jewson, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The Garstang AFC fans' excitement grew in the 82nd match minute when Garstang AFC's Anselmo Spione looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 4-5 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Belfast Rebels FC eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
