Seating: 8, VIP seats: 0) The mood of the audience was pleasant when Benjamin McPaul made the kick off which started today's match. Bearach Sheridan fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 3rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Brann Ferguson having to interfere. After 8 minutes, Bearach Sheridan made it 0-1 with a short kick to the right side. Fethard's Brann Ferguson tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. The crowd rose to their feet as Peter McIan kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Timothy Taylor. That made the score 2-1 in the 19 minute of play. A collision led to Fethard getting a freekick after 37 minutes play. Peter McIan hit a great ball. Bearach Sheridan sent away a hard shot on goal in the 39th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Benjamin McPaul sent away a hard shot on goal in the 41st minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 2-2 after a close first half.
If Benjamin McPaul had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 52nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Ventry's Timothy Taylor played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Brannon McTom in the 56th minute of play. Benjamin McPaul struck a weak shot in the 60th minute. Brann Ferguson didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Ventry. Timothy Taylor showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Brannon McTom in the 63rd minute of the match. In the 64th minute, Pauric Murphy hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Ron Silke, 65 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. After 67 played minutes Ventry got a freekick which was hit by Ross Crowe. When Fethard's Peter McIan in the 69th minute got a chance for a shot 69th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Ventry's goalie prevented a goal. Theobald Walker's late challenge caught a Ventry's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Theobald Walker helped the player get up and apologised. After 71 played minutes Fethard got a freekick which was hit by Theobald Walker. Brann Ferguson didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Benjamin McPaul went, in the 72nd minute, to the upper right corner, 2-3 was the resulting score. Bearach Sheridan's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Brann Ferguson read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 75th minute of play. When Benjamin McPaul came up free with the goalie in the 77th minute, the Ventry fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Benjamin McPaul couldn't finish the play. The audience was convinced that Bearach Sheridan's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Brann Ferguson was relentless in the 77th minute of the game. 81 minutes into the match, Bearach Sheridan dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Brann Ferguson, 2-4. Bearach Sheridan sent away a hard shot on goal in the 85th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When the match was over Ventry could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Fethard throughout the match.
