Colmcille Frankson made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Abban Colwell in the 33rd minute of play. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 40th minute of the game. One of Cait Dubh Athy:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Portleen FC:s goal. Ionel Rogozea went to the wrong direction when Beary Barrett was taking care of the penalty kick which however missed the goal. After 42 minutes, Brennon McIan made it 2-2 with a short kick to the right side. Cait Dubh Athy's Ionel Rogozea tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Ionel Rogozea had great luck who in the 42ndth minute grab hold of the ball when Brennon McIan from a short distance tried to put the ball inside the right post.

The wind increased when Brennon McIan made the kick off in the second half. Flannery Rutherford hit a great freekick 51 minutes into the match. Cait Dubh Athy's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. When the match had gone on for 95 minutes, Tevis Willson took a quick shot and it went in 2-4 without a chance for Colmcille Frankson to make any attempt to save it. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Cait Dubh Athy eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
