The March fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. Matthew Townsend took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Lewis Perkins, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a defensive mix-up in March's zone, Kirk Quinn stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Tyrone Browne came out of the goal and Kirk Quinn tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. If Ethan Westwood had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 18th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After having played for 20 minutes, Joseph Waterhouse managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. March's supporters crossed their fingers, but Joseph Waterhouse was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After 22 played minutes Whitley Bay got a freekick which was hit by Eddy Bettinson. Clive Fordham received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 23rd minute. Matthew Townsend tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Lewis Perkins sent away a hard shot on goal in the 26th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Ethan Westwood's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Tyrone Browne read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 27th minute of play. After having played for 29 minutes, Ethan Westwood managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Whitley Bay's supporters crossed their fingers, but Ethan Westwood was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Colin Forrester could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 34th minute of the match, but Tyrone Browne made a huge save. Whitley Bay's Ethan Westwood got a good chance for a goal in the 37th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Joseph Waterhouse in the 47th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Matthew Townsend saved Whitley Bay from getting behind. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Ethan Westwood stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. The crowd rose to their feet as March's Joseph Waterhouse slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Matthew Townsend. That made the score 0-2 after 54 minutes of play. The supporters of Whitley Bay booed when March was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 57 match minutes in a wonderful position. Clive Fordham didn't get a good kick on the ball. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Colin Forrester in the 58th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Tyrone Browne prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Whitley Bay's Matthew Townsend proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 60th minute of the match, managed to save Whitley Bay from getting a goal against them. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Ethan Westwood in the 61st minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Tyrone Browne prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After some careless play in the Whitley Bay defense, Lewis Perkins kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Matthew Townsend. The Whitley Bay fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Matthew Townsend should have stopped the shot. In the 66thth minute of the game Ethan Westwood who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but March's Tyrone Browne was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Clive Fordham charged in rather forcefully in the 73rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Clive Fordham the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 73 played minutes March got a freekick which was hit by Clive Fordham. Matthew Townsend was a little too slow when Joseph Waterhouse got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 77th minute. The score was now 0-4. Matthew Townsend made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Joseph Waterhouse in the 87th minute of play. In the 93rd minute, Colin Forrester got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Lewis Perkins sent away a hard shot on goal in the 95th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.
