Spectators: 34 (Terracing: 26, Seating: 8, VIP seats: 0) The sun was shining, the grass was green and the audience cheered when Ethan Westwood got the match started through his kick off. Chaffley's Jo Oddy played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ethan Westwood in the 3rd minute of play. The audience was convinced that Malcolm Grayson's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Matthew Townsend was relentless in the 10th minute of the game. Ethan Westwood blasted a shot towards the goal in the 12th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Jo Oddy having to make a save. The supporters of Chaffley booed when Whitley Bay was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 22 match minutes in a wonderful position. Eddy Bettinson didn't get a good kick on the ball. Malcolm Grayson took the ball and in the 24 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Matthew Townsend. Matthew Townsend dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-2. In the 29th match minute, Chaffley was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jerome Cordingley to maneuver through the defense. Colin Forrester could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 29th minute of the match, but Jo Oddy made a huge save. Malcolm Grayson sent away a hard shot on goal in the 35th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Malcolm Grayson came up free with the goalie in the 37th minute, the Chaffley fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Malcolm Grayson couldn't finish the play. In the 39th minute Anthony Apsden shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Matthew Townsend saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Anthony Apsden in the 43rd minute of play forced Whitley Bay's goalkeeper Matthew Townsend to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Malcolm Grayson recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 46th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Anthony Apsden received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 48th minute. Matthew Townsend tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Anthony Apsden to make the kick off. When the match had gone on for 57 minutes, Anthony Apsden took a quick shot and it went in 0-3 without a chance for Matthew Townsend to make any attempt to save it. After 60 played minutes Chaffley got a freekick which was hit by Anthony Apsden. An unexpectedly hard shot by Colin Forrester in the 62nd minute of play forced Chaffley's goalkeeper Jo Oddy to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Colin Forrester received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 67th minute. Jo Oddy tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 68th minute, Karl Knight-Percival hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 72nd match minute, Chaffley was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Mattias Eastham to maneuver through the defense. If Ethan Westwood had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 77th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 78 minutes into the match, Colin Forrester had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Jo Oddy. Chaffley's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Colin Forrester was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-3. If Ethan Westwood had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 86th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After some fancy dribbling in the 89th minute, Ethan Westwood managed to get in a good position for a shot. Whitley Bay's supporters rose to their feet, but Ethan Westwood was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Jo Oddy breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Colin Forrester fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 97th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jo Oddy having to interfere. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Chaffley had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
