Spectators: 34 (Terracing: 26, Seating: 8, VIP seats: 0) Bruce Haskell made the kick off and thus started the match. Eccles's Robert Trueman got a good chance for a goal in the 3rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Through an outstanding action, after 4 minutes, Les Hughes-Guy successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. If Robert Trueman had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 12th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Adrian Newbury fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 16th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Les Hughes-Guy having to interfere. In the 19th match minute, Eccles was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Adrian Newbury to maneuver through the defense. 22 minutes into the game, Bruce Haskell cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Zak Pointon was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. After having played for 25 minutes, Geoff Carragher managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Meols AFC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Geoff Carragher was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After 33 minutes of play, Meols AFC's Bruce Haskell made it 0-3 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Zak Pointon was left in no man's land by his defense there! In the 38th match minute, Meols AFC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Grant Husband to maneuver through the defense. After some fancy dribbling in the 42nd minute, Bart Rockey managed to get in a good position for a shot. Eccles's supporters rose to their feet, but Bart Rockey was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Les Hughes-Guy breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-3 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Bart Rockey to strike the kick off in the second half. In the 54thth minute of the game Bart Rockey who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Meols AFC's Les Hughes-Guy was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Phil Emmerson hit a great freekick 55 minutes into the match. In the 56th minute of the match Marc Denham shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Zak Pointon showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. In the 62nd minute, Robert Trueman ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Les Hughes-Guy was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-3. Les Hughes-Guy stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Robert Trueman's shot from short distance in the 74th minute. In the 75th minute, Robert Trueman got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Johnathon Hurren kicked well hit freekick during the 79th minute of the match. Geoff Carragher could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 80th minute of the match, but Zak Pointon made a huge save. In the 84th minute of the match Den Burgess sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Les Hughes-Guy skillfully saved the ball. Zak Pointon showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Bruce Haskell, who was totally free with the ball in the 88th minute. Robert Trueman struck a weak shot in the 90th minute. Les Hughes-Guy didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Eccles. In the 93rd minute, Steven Fleetwood hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field.
