Seating: 8, VIP seats: 0) Werrington's Philip Granger started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. The supporters of Werrington booed when Ringwood was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 8 match minutes in a wonderful position. Danny Crooks didn't get a good kick on the ball. A collision led to Ringwood getting a freekick after 9 minutes play. Danny Crooks hit a great ball. Chesney Southgate was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 10th played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. After a rather tough play, Werrington's Warren Sherwood got a free kick in the 18th minute. Sly Pullen's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Brad Cryer read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 19th minute of play. Werrington's Brad Cryer proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 24th minute of the match, managed to save Werrington from getting a goal against them. After a rather tough play, Ringwood's Micheal Leeson got a free kick in the 29th minute. Marcus Heath breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 42nd minute, Piers Nethercot got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.
The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Sly Pullen stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Philip Granger was extremely unlucky when he, in the 55th minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. Philip Granger received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 60th minute. Marcus Heath tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.
