Will Harrison kicked well hit freekick during the 5th minute of the match. Jason Rawlings made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Dave Barfield in the 7th minute of play. In the 10th minute, Nigel Sheringham left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Black Country fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-0. Cliff Bond's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Graeme Purvis read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 15th minute of play. Ringwood's Graeme Purvis played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cliff Bond in the 31st minute of play. Dave Barfield fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 41st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jason Rawlings having to interfere. Cliff Bond sent away a hard shot on goal in the 43rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.
Graeme Purvis showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cliff Bond, who was totally free with the ball in the 52nd minute. Ringwood's supporters crossed their fingers, but Dave Barfield was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After some fancy dribbling in the 59th minute, Tod Culverhouse managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ringwood's supporters rose to their feet, but Tod Culverhouse was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Jason Rawlings breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. If Dave Barfield had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 62nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After having played for 64 minutes, Dave Barfield managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Black Country's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
