If Scott Blakewell had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 4th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Chaz Marriott made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Scott Blakewell in the 6th minute of play. With a little luck, Lutterworth AFC's Rio Hughes got control of the ball when Roger Black tried to sneak it across the goal line. A collision led to Wanlip Knights getting a freekick after 14 minutes play. Tristram Rowland hit a great ball. In the 15th minute of the match Ken Washington sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Chaz Marriott skillfully saved the ball. Chaz Marriott stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Scott Blakewell's shot from short distance in the 16th minute. If Scott Blakewell had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 17th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 19th minute Albert Walton shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Chaz Marriott saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Lutterworth AFC's Albert Walton in the 25th minute got a chance for a shot 25th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Wanlip Knights's goalie prevented a goal. In the 29th minute Scott Blakewell shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Chaz Marriott saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The supporters of Lutterworth AFC booed when Wanlip Knights was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 33 match minutes in a wonderful position. Andy Mansell didn't get a good kick on the ball. After having played for 37 minutes, Scott Blakewell managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Lutterworth AFC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Scott Blakewell was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 38 minutes into the game, one of Wanlip Knights:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. Albert Walton fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 44th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Chaz Marriott having to interfere.

Andy Mansell struck a weak shot in the 52nd minute. Rio Hughes didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Wanlip Knights. After a good free kick, Roger Black got an opportunity to smash the ball into the goal, but unfortunately, the ball went just outside the goal, which resulted in a goal kick for Lutterworth AFC. An unexpectedly hard shot by Roger Black in the 56th minute of play forced Lutterworth AFC's goalkeeper Rio Hughes to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 58th match minute, Lutterworth AFC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Albert Walton to maneuver through the defense. Tristram Rowland charged in rather forcefully in the 92nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Tristram Rowland the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. A collision led to Wanlip Knights getting a freekick after 92 minutes play. Tristram Rowland hit a great ball. With a little luck, Wanlip Knights's Chaz Marriott got control of the ball when Albert Walton tried to sneak it across the goal line. Lutterworth AFC played a much better game than Wanlip Knights and deserved their victory. The Wanlip Knights players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
