Seating: 8, VIP seats: 0) Johnathan Duckworth started the match with the kick off in front of an excited audience. Patrick Lonsdale was astounded when the referee showed him the red card after a seemingly innocent challenge, 6 minutes into the match. The supporters of Waltham Cross booed when Wolves was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 7 match minutes in a wonderful position. Patrick Lonsdale didn't get a good kick on the ball. Iain Wright struck a weak shot in the 8th minute. Ruben Woodford didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Waltham Cross. With a little luck, Wolves's Ruben Woodford got control of the ball when Karl Ronson tried to sneak it across the goal line. Ruben Woodford showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Tommy Wing in the 11th minute of the match. Romeo Stubbs charged in rather forcefully in the 12th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Romeo Stubbs the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Karl Ronson might have been able to make a better finish in the 13th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Ruben Woodford. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Karl Ronson ran back to his position shaking his head. 17 minutes into the match, Waltham Cross's goal looked a bit too open when Johnathan Duckworth came free, but Ivor Kenna reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After having played for 23 minutes, Johnathan Duckworth managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Wolves's supporters crossed their fingers, but Johnathan Duckworth was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 25 minutes into the game, Hugh Shipley was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Waltham Cross's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Wolves the free kick. After 25 played minutes Waltham Cross got a freekick which was hit by Hugh Shipley. With an all-out effort, Waltham Cross's Ruben Woodford threw himself towards the right post 31 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Tommy Wing, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. After 33 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Waltham Cross! Johnathan Duckworth placed the ball on the penalty spot and got himself ready to shoot. Post out! In the 46th minute, Pat Hackney got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.
The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Tommy Wing to strike the kick off in the second half. Ruben Woodford took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Bryan Boatman, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When Vinnie Reeve fell near the penalty area in the 54th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Wolves's protests and gave Vinnie Reeve a yellow card for diving instead. In the 54th match minute, Wolves was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Vinnie Reeve to maneuver through the defense. Ruben Woodford took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Tommy Wing, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Waltham Cross's Pat Hackney got a good chance for a goal in the 61st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Ruben Woodford showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Tommy Wing in the 62nd minute of the match. Ruben Woodford made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Pat Hackney in the 63rd minute of play. The audience was convinced that Tommy Wing's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Ruben Woodford was relentless in the 65th minute of the game. When Pat Hackney came up free with the goalie in the 66th minute, the Waltham Cross fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Pat Hackney couldn't finish the play. Ruben Woodford showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from John-Paul Lagdon, who was totally free with the ball in the 68th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Tommy Wing in the 69th minute of play forced Wolves's goalkeeper Ruben Woodford to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 72nd minute Tommy Wing shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ruben Woodford saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 75 minutes into the match, Wolves's goal looked a bit too open when Bryan Boatman came free, but Ruben Woodford reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 76thth minute of the game Tommy Wing who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Wolves's Ruben Woodford was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Ruben Woodford showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Iain Wright, who was totally free with the ball in the 78th minute. Wolves's Ruben Woodford played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tommy Wing in the 81st minute of play. In the 89th minute Tommy Wing shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ruben Woodford saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Iain Wright had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 90th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Waltham Cross walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
