Tommy Piercy didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Iain Bignot went, in the 7th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. Stu Slabber sent away a hard shot on goal in the 11th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 14th minute Stu Slabber shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Kev Gray saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Tommy Piercy showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Iain Bignot, who was totally free with the ball in the 17th minute. Stu Slabber's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Kev Gray read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 18th minute of play. Ashley Golding fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 23rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Tommy Piercy having to interfere. After 24 played minutes Streatham AFC got a freekick which was hit by Tim Marchant. After 25 minutes, Stew Bayliff mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Bristol Centre and the Streatham AFC players grew even worse after the yellow card. A collision led to Bristol Centre getting a freekick after 25 minutes play. Stew Bayliff hit a great ball. Tommy Piercy made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ashley Golding in the 29th minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Streatham AFC's zone, Stew Bayliff stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Tommy Piercy came out of the goal and Stew Bayliff tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After 34 played minutes Streatham AFC got a freekick which was hit by Tim Marchant. Kev Gray was a little too slow when Stu Slabber got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 38th minute. The score was now 1-1. In a very dangerous position, a player in Streatham AFC fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 42nd minute. Penalty! The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Stu Slabber to make the kick off. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Frankie Fry during the 54th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The audience held their breath when Kirk Addison in the 82nd minute of the game managed to trick the opponents defenses and fired away a shot outside the goal on the Kev Gray's left hand side. John Toovey's late challenge caught a Streatham AFC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card.
