Glastonbury Stadium

Seating: 8, VIP seats: 0) The field was rather wet after several days of rain when Nicky Forrest took the kick off in the first half of the match. The throw-in from Dan Workman in the 6th minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by Glastonbury City's Frazer Ryder. If Stevie Anson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 7th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Dan Workman made in the 10th minute of the game a fairly good throw-in which was taken care of by Luke Webster. Laurence Notley showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Tony Britton, who was totally free with the ball in the 12th minute. In the 13th minute, Luke Webster hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The audience was convinced that Tony Britton's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Laurence Notley was relentless in the 15th minute of the game. Stevie Anson recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 16th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 22 minutes into the match, Ray Widdrington had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Archie Acton. Glastonbury City's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Ray Widdrington was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. When Jacob Revell fell near the penalty area in the 24th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Purbrook's protests and gave Jacob Revell a yellow card for diving instead. After a rather tough play, Purbrook's Jacob Revell got a free kick in the 25th minute. A collision led to Purbrook getting a freekick after 30 minutes play. Deon Shaw hit a great ball. In the 31st minute the ball was on its way in behind Purbrook's goalkeeper Laurence Notley, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. 33 minutes into the game, Tony Britton recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Laurence Notley. Tony Britton showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-1. Archie Acton showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Nicky Forrest, who was totally free with the ball in the 38th minute. Stevie Anson sent away a hard shot on goal in the 40th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.
The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Tony Britton was the one to do the kick off. Archie Acton made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Nicky Forrest in the 59th minute of play. James Tomkin made in the 61st minute of the game a quick throw-in and Brendon Spurgeon immediately put the ball in play. A collision led to Glastonbury City getting a freekick after 64 minutes play. Tony Britton hit a great ball. After 65 played minutes, Purbrook's Doug Branch shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Archie Acton came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Purbrook reached it. The audience thought a goal was coming when Ray Widdrington got free with Archie Acton in the 69th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. When Stevie Anson came up free with the goalie in the 71st minute, the Glastonbury City fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Stevie Anson couldn't finish the play. Purbrook's Jacob Revell got a good chance for a goal in the 73rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Laurence Notley showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Nathan Tanner in the 75th minute of the match. Archie Acton took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Nicky Forrest, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Tony Britton took the ball and in the 78 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Laurence Notley. Laurence Notley dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-1. In the 87th minute, Stevie Anson got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Tony Britton sent away a hard shot on goal in the 88th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Purbrook's Laurence Notley played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Stevie Anson in the 90th minute of play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Tony Britton in the 94th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Laurence Notley saved Purbrook from getting behind. In the 96th minute the ball was on its way in behind Purbrook's goalkeeper Laurence Notley, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Glastonbury City's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
