Lewis Dowrick was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Ross Ramsay fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 7th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Lewis Dowrick having to interfere. Lewis Dowrick stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Ross Ramsay's shot from short distance in the 14th minute. 15 minutes into the match, St Helens FC's goal looked a bit too open when Ross Ramsay came free, but Lewis Dowrick reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 22nd match minute, St Helens FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by David Wells to maneuver through the defense. Shaun Farrell, 23 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. If Carl Winter had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 25th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a defensive mix-up in Branscombe FC's zone, Neil Beale stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. James Pearce came out of the goal and Neil Beale tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The supporters of Branscombe FC booed when St Helens FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 33 match minutes in a wonderful position. Neil Beale didn't get a good kick on the ball. 0-2 became the score in the 37th minute when Dominik Waite elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. Carl Winter received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 42nd minute. James Pearce tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 43rd minute, Neil Beale got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-2.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Neil Beale to make the kick off. Lewis Dowrick took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ross Ramsay, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Carl Winter might have been able to make a better finish in the 56th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over James Pearce. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. In the 60th minute, Branscombe FC's Nat Birch dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 0-3. 65 minutes into the match, St Helens FC's goalkeeper Lewis Dowrick had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Dominik Waite. In the 66th minute Ross Ramsay shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Lewis Dowrick saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. James Pearce took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Carl Winter, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Branscombe FC's Leon Cummins got a good chance for a goal in the 73rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 79 minutes into the match, Dominik Waite had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Lewis Dowrick. St Helens FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Dominik Waite was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-4. Neil Beale received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 83rd minute. James Pearce tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The audience was convinced that Ross Ramsay's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Lewis Dowrick was relentless in the 94th minute of the game. The Branscombe FC players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
