Spectators: 34 (Terracing: 26, Seating: 8, VIP seats: 0) Geoff Miller started the match with the kick off in front of an excited audience. A collision led to FC Spalding Panthers getting a freekick after 3 minutes play. Freddy Vassell hit a great ball. In the 4th minute of the match Geoff Miller sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Felix Rushforth skillfully saved the ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Blair Bell got free with Russ Firth in the 6th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Ruben Stead received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 10th minute. Felix Rushforth tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After some careless play in the FC Spalding Panthers defense, Victor Colley kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Felix Rushforth. The FC Spalding Panthers fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Felix Rushforth should have stopped the shot. After having played for 26 minutes, Ash Higgins managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. FC Spalding Panthers's supporters crossed their fingers, but Ash Higgins was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. CJ Etherington's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Russ Firth read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 28th minute of play. Felix Rushforth showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Geoff Miller, who was totally free with the ball in the 33rd minute. Russ Firth made an important save on a dangerous shot by Conal Leslie in the 36th minute. After 39 minutes, Chris Lister mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the FC Spalding Panthers and the Shawbury United players grew even worse after the yellow card. Chris Lister kicked well hit freekick during the 39th minute of the match. Felix Rushforth came out of the goal in the 45th minute to try and stop a shot by Shawbury United's Geoff Miller. But to his dismay, Geoff Miller quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-3. Disappointed in the 0-3 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

After a defensive mix-up in FC Spalding Panthers's zone, Ruben Stead stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Felix Rushforth came out of the goal and Ruben Stead tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. FC Spalding Panthers's Felix Rushforth played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ruben Stead in the 56th minute of play. In the 60th minute, Ruben Stead got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Victor Colley sent away a hard shot on goal in the 63rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Austin Fairbank fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 65th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Felix Rushforth having to interfere. A throw-in in the 70th minute of the game was made by Chris Lister with Carl Maston as target, who quickly passed the ball forward. The supporters of FC Spalding Panthers booed when Shawbury United was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 70 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ruben Stead didn't get a good kick on the ball. CJ Etherington hit a great freekick 72 minutes into the match. In the 78th minute, Austin Fairbank reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Felix Rushforth. The goal made the score 0-4. When Ruben Stead came up free with the goalie in the 88th minute, the Shawbury United fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Ruben Stead couldn't finish the play. Austin Fairbank fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 90th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Felix Rushforth having to interfere. When the match had gone on for 92 minutes, Ruben Stead took a quick shot and it went in 0-5 without a chance for Felix Rushforth to make any attempt to save it.
