Kelvin Baldwin fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 25th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Eric Gurney having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Atherstone United's Kieran Anderson got a free kick in the 32nd minute. When Kelvin Baldwin came up free with the goalie in the 33rd minute, the Ferndown AFC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Kelvin Baldwin couldn't finish the play. Eric Gurney showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Kyle Jefferies in the 35th minute of the match. After having played for 47 minutes, Alan Sears managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Atherstone United's supporters crossed their fingers, but Alan Sears was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

Ferndown AFC's defense didn't have a chance, in the 60th minute, when Alan Sears scored to the left of an out of position Rod Bilham, making the score, 1-2. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Alan Sears in the 69th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Rod Bilham saved Ferndown AFC from getting behind. In the 75th minute, Jerry Goodwick hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a rather tough play, Ferndown AFC's Nat Robson got a free kick in the 79th minute. Rory Pilgrim took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 86th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Rod Bilham. Ferndown AFC's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Atherstone United's Eric Gurney played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Kyle Jefferies in the 87th minute of play. Owen Turk received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 92nd minute. Rod Bilham tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.
