Neen Sollars FC's Crispin Lomas was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Drew Cain in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. Joey Simms received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 9th minute. Drew Cain tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Joey Simms sent away a hard shot on goal in the 13th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 14 minutes into the match, Neen Sollars FC's Joey Simms sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Drew Cain narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 19th minute of the match Neen Sollars FC got a corner. Fordham FC's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Crispin Lomas ran over to the corner to take the kick. The audience was convinced that Joey Simms's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Drew Cain was relentless in the 21st minute of the game. If Marc Sheringham had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 27th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Len Wiseman was out of position in the 30 minute of play, and Marc Sheringham capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Marc Sheringham really showed his touch with that goal: 1-0. The audience was convinced that Joey Simms's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Drew Cain was relentless in the 33rd minute of the game. Len Wiseman made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Marc Sheringham in the 37th minute of play. Lee Challis sent away a hard shot on goal in the 38th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. A collision led to Fordham FC getting a freekick after 42 minutes play. Dylon Blackwater hit a great ball. In the 45th minute of the match Neen Sollars FC got a corner. Fordham FC's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Crispin Lomas ran over to the corner to take the kick. The corner led Neen Sollars FC's Crispin Lomas to fire away a dangerous shot which Drew Cain despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Joey Simms fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 47th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Drew Cain having to interfere. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Marc Sheringham stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Rodney Boxall hit a great freekick 55 minutes into the match. Len Wiseman showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Marc Sheringham, who was totally free with the ball in the 55th minute. Joey Simms sent away a hard shot on goal in the 57th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 58th match minute, Fordham FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Giles Hazell to maneuver through the defense. 61 minutes into the game, Joey Simms recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Drew Cain. Joey Simms showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-1. Len Wiseman showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Phil Birch in the 67th minute of the match. Phil Birch sent away a hard shot on goal in the 70th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 80th match minute, Neen Sollars FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Crispin Lomas to maneuver through the defense. In the 81st minute Marc Sheringham shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Len Wiseman saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Gordon Haley got his second yellow card in the match during the 83rd minute which meant that he had to leave the ground. In the 84th match minute, Fordham FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Gordon Haley to maneuver through the defense. Joey Simms struck a weak shot in the 88th minute. Drew Cain didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Neen Sollars FC. A collision led to Neen Sollars FC getting a freekick after 89 minutes play. Lee Challis hit a great ball. The final whistle blew with the score still tied, and both teams left the pitch thinking about the missed chances that could have given their team the win.
