In the 4th minute, Ivor Soussan got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. If Ivor Soussan had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 7th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Colin Merchant sent away a hard shot on goal in the 9th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Swansea City FC's Bob Burbeary played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ralph Church in the 14th minute of play. Bob Burbeary took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Seth Smith, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Glenn Hedges showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Tommy Potterton in the 24th minute of the match. After having played for 34 minutes, Tommy Potterton managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Swansea City FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Tommy Potterton was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Paddy Houlahan kicked well hit freekick during the 37th minute of the match. Bob Burbeary took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ken Wild, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Miles Shilton recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 42nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Tommy Potterton to strike the kick off in the second half. Marc Scholey kicked well hit freekick during the 51st minute of the match. Colin Merchant struck a weak shot in the 52nd minute. Glenn Hedges didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Swansea City FC. Jay Wilson charged in rather forcefully in the 56th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Jay Wilson the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Paddy Houlahan took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 57th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Glenn Hedges. Barnstaple's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. 59 minutes into the match, Ralph Church had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Bob Burbeary. Swansea City FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Ralph Church was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-1. Bob Burbeary showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Seth Smith in the 64th minute of the match. The crowd rose to their feet as Barnstaple's Seth Smith slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Bob Burbeary. That made the score 1-2 after 66 minutes of play. The supporters of Barnstaple booed when Swansea City FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 69 match minutes in a wonderful position. Garth Malpeli didn't get a good kick on the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 70th minute, Seth Smith managed to get in a good position for a shot. Barnstaple's supporters rose to their feet, but Seth Smith was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Bob Burbeary breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After 71 minutes, Garth Malpeli mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Swansea City FC and the Barnstaple players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 71st match minute, Swansea City FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Garth Malpeli to maneuver through the defense. In the 73rd minute Miles Shilton shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Bob Burbeary saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. With his leg Bob Burbeary managed to avoid a goal in the 75thth minute, when Barnstaple's Ivan England fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. When Swansea City FC's Tommy Potterton in the 79th minute got a chance for a shot 79th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Barnstaple's goalie prevented a goal. When Seth Smith came up free with the goalie in the 83rd minute, the Barnstaple fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Seth Smith couldn't finish the play. In the 88th minute of the match, Seth Smith tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Bob Burbeary saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. In the 91st minute Colin Merchant shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Glenn Hedges saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 93 minutes into the game, Jay Wilson recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Bob Burbeary. Jay Wilson showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-3. In the 97th minute, Ivan England ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Bob Burbeary was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-4. When the match was over Barnstaple could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Swansea City FC throughout the match.
