In the 4th minute, Cowplain's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Marc Dunn fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. Buster Graydon showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Derek Timiney, who was totally free with the ball in the 8th minute. 0-1 became the score in the 21st minute when Gaz Anson elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. Tim Nicoll fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 25th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Will Clough having to interfere. Cowplain's Buster Graydon played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Derek Timiney in the 27th minute of play. Tim Nicoll received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 33rd minute. Will Clough tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Zaq Hay charged in rather forcefully in the 35th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Zaq Hay the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. A collision led to Lavendon United getting a freekick after 35 minutes play. Zaq Hay hit a great ball. In the 39th minute the ball was on its way in behind Cowplain's goalkeeper Buster Graydon, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

Lavendon United's defense didn't have a chance, in the 56th minute, when Gaz Anson scored to the left of an out of position Will Clough, making the score, 0-2. After 59 minutes of play Lavendon United's Zaq Hay was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. The supporters of Cowplain booed when Lavendon United was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 60 match minutes in a wonderful position. Zaq Hay didn't get a good kick on the ball. When Gaz Anson came up free with the goalie in the 61st minute, the Cowplain fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Gaz Anson couldn't finish the play. Sacha Naylor hit a great freekick 62 minutes into the match. 64 minutes into the game, Sacha Naylor was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Lavendon United's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Cowplain the free kick. Tim Nicoll came free with the goalkeeper in the 65th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Will Clough could save by the left post. In the 66th minute, Johnny Potts hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Tim Nicoll sent away a hard shot on goal in the 68th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a defensive mix-up in Cowplain's zone, Marc Dunn stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Buster Graydon came out of the goal and Marc Dunn tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When Gaz Anson came up free with the goalie in the 89th minute, the Cowplain fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Gaz Anson couldn't finish the play. Cowplain's Buster Graydon played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Marc Dunn in the 94th minute of play. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Cowplain eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
