The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Jasper Harris sent away a hard shot on goal in the 6th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. 10 minutes into the match, Champs's goal looked a bit too open when Stevie Cambridge came free, but Neil Jobson reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Ron Burgess succeeded in the game's 12th minute to shoot an unreachable shot under the crossbar and scored - 1-0. Jools Cook hit a great freekick 21 minutes into the match. Champs's Neil Jobson proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 25th minute of the match, managed to save Champs from getting a goal against them. Stevie Cambridge fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 27th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Neil Jobson having to interfere. After having played for 29 minutes, Jools Cook managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Champs's supporters crossed their fingers, but Jools Cook was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Zackary Toovey showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jools Cook, who was totally free with the ball in the 36th minute. In the 38th minute, Gregory Castleton left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Champs fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-1. Zackary Toovey showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gregory Castleton in the 43rd minute of the match. After a rather tough play, Champs's Jay Patton got a free kick in the 47th minute. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.
The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Gregory Castleton stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. After having played for 54 minutes, Jools Cook managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Champs's supporters crossed their fingers, but Jools Cook was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 59th play minute Jools Cook came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised Zackary Toovey. 1-2. An unexpected shot in the 63rd minute by Jools Cook got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. Leo Jobson sent away a hard shot on goal in the 68th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 70th minute, Jools Cook got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After 72 played minutes Haywards Heath got a freekick which was hit by Ron Burgess. Gregory Castleton had several of the Haywards Heath's defenders around him in the penalty area when he, after 73 minutes of play, received a pass and succeeded in some way to shoot a shot which went straight ahead into goal. This resulted in a 1-3 score and a disappointed Zackary Toovey as he didn't even see the shot coming. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gregory Castleton in the 81st minute of play forced Haywards Heath's goalkeeper Zackary Toovey to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 82 minutes into the game, Giles Culverhouse was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Champs's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Haywards Heath the free kick. The supporters of Haywards Heath booed when Champs was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 82 match minutes in a wonderful position. Giles Culverhouse didn't get a good kick on the ball. Zackary Toovey was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 86th minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Anthony Wallbank. Leo Jobson hit a great freekick 88 minutes into the match. In the 90th minute the ball was on its way in behind Haywards Heath's goalkeeper Zackary Toovey, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Giles Culverhouse received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 98th minute. Zackary Toovey tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.
