Luke Faith showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Leo Hargrave in the 3rd minute of the match. Keanu Langston showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Tom Lee-Barrett, who was totally free with the ball in the 4th minute. Ashley Beasley succeeded to score despite a near miss that spronge from right pole into the goal to 1-0 in the 5th playminute. Luke Faith made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Leo Hargrave in the 9th minute of play. Rodney Castleton kicked well hit freekick during the 16th minute of the match. 20 minutes into the match, ZEIG AFC's Tom Lee-Barrett sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Keanu Langston narrowly saved just below the crossbar. 22 minutes into the match, Tom Lee-Barrett dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Keanu Langston, 2-0. Tom Lee-Barrett sent away a hard shot on goal in the 30th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. If Leo Hargrave had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 33rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After some fancy dribbling in the 36th minute, Tom Lee-Barrett managed to get in a good position for a shot. ZEIG AFC's supporters rose to their feet, but Tom Lee-Barrett was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Keanu Langston breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. A collision led to Colchester United getting a freekick after 38 minutes play. Joey Dobby hit a great ball. If Tom Lee-Barrett had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 41st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 43rd match minute, ZEIG AFC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Brian Milligan to maneuver through the defense. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-0.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Leo Hargrave was the one to do the kick off. In the 59th match minute, Colchester United was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Rodney Castleton to maneuver through the defense. After recieving a nice pass, ZEIG AFC's Pete Cummins tried to score from far away in the 60th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. In the 65th minute, Bobby Quantrill fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Luke Faith, passed just outside the right post. In the 68th minute, Leo Hargrave got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After 80 minutes, Pete Cummins mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the ZEIG AFC and the Colchester United players grew even worse after the yellow card. In a very dangerous position, a player in ZEIG AFC fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 79th minute. Penalty! In the 81st minute there was a penalty for Colchester United. Derek Black stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Luke Faith. 2-1. ZEIG AFC were awarded a corner in the 87th minute after Colchester United's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Pete Cummins took the corner. After taking down the ball on ZEIG AFC's corner Pete Cummins fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Keanu Langston quite easily take care of the ball. Tom Lee-Barrett received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 91st minute. Keanu Langston tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When ZEIG AFC's Tom Lee-Barrett in the 93rd minute got a chance for a shot 93rd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. ZEIG AFC's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
