Dean Paterson came out of the goal in the 20th minute to try and stop a shot by Kemsing's Thom Durrant. But to his dismay, Thom Durrant quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. In the 23rd match minute, Kemsing was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Fraser Miller to maneuver through the defense. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Cambridge City reached it. 72 minutes into the game, Mitch Fordham was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Kemsing's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Cambridge City the free kick. The supporters of Cambridge City booed when Kemsing was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 72 match minutes in a wonderful position. Mitch Fordham didn't get a good kick on the ball. Mitch Fordham was shown his second yellow card after 75 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. After a defensive mix-up in Kemsing's zone, Will Rooney stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Carl Pell came out of the goal and Will Rooney tried to chip the ball over his head. Cambridge City's supporters crossed their fingers, but Nat Pollock was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Carl Pell took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Nat Pollock, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side.
