Spectators: 35 (Terracing: 27, Seating: 8, VIP seats: 0) Chesney Wagstaff made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Rupert Greenwood in the 3rd minute of play. Greg Windsor fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 6th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Chesney Wagstaff having to interfere. Rupert Greenwood struck a weak shot in the 14th minute. Chesney Wagstaff didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Swansea united. After 19 played minutes Petworth got a freekick which was hit by Richie Bedford. In the 22nd minute, Tosh Fry hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Dave Bryant scored 0-1 in the 25th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Frank Carpenter, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. 29 minutes into the game, Dave Bryant cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-2. Frank Carpenter was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. If Rupert Greenwood had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 32nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 35 minutes into the match, Petworth's goal looked a bit too open when Rupert Greenwood came free, but Chesney Wagstaff reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 37 minutes of play, Swansea united's Tosh Fry made it 1-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Chesney Wagstaff was left in no man's land by his defense there! 42 minutes into the match, Petworth's goal looked a bit too open when Rupert Greenwood came free, but Chesney Wagstaff reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The audience thought a goal was coming when Greg Windsor got free with Chesney Wagstaff in the 46th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Rupert Greenwood fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 47th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Chesney Wagstaff having to interfere. After the first half Petworth were leading 1-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Dave Bryant to make the kick off. If Greg Windsor had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 57th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Frank Carpenter didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Dom Davison went, in the 83rd minute, to the upper right corner, 1-4 was the resulting score. Greg Windsor received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 92nd minute. Chesney Wagstaff tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 93 minutes into the game, Philip Lloyd was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Petworth's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Swansea united the free kick. After 93 played minutes Petworth got a freekick which was hit by Philip Lloyd. Chesney Wagstaff took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Rupert Greenwood, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The Swansea united manager could be seen shouting at his players as they walked down the tunnel after the match. He was clearly angry that they had squandered their superior possession, allowing Petworth to win.
