Greg Windsor fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 8th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without David Fleetwood having to interfere. In the 12th minute, Niall Rawson left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Ashton-in-Makerfield fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-0. Niall Rawson fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 15th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Frank Carpenter having to interfere. When the match clock showed 19 minutes, the score became 2-1 when Rupert Greenwood sped through Ashton-in-Makerfield's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of David Fleetwood. David Fleetwood didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Swansea united. The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Richard Nailor stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Alfie Featherson kicked well hit freekick during the 52nd minute of the match. Greg Windsor came free with the goalkeeper in the 53rd minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and David Fleetwood could save by the left post. David Fleetwood showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Rupert Greenwood, who was totally free with the ball in the 55th minute. The audience thought a goal was coming when Rupert Greenwood got free with David Fleetwood in the 57th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. When Greg Windsor came up free with the goalie in the 63rd minute, the Swansea united fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Greg Windsor couldn't finish the play. Frank Carpenter made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Niall Rawson in the 81st minute of play. The supporters of Ashton-in-Makerfield booed when Swansea united was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 81 match minutes in a wonderful position. Tosh Fry didn't get a good kick on the ball. Frank Carpenter showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Niall Rawson in the 85th minute of the match. For all the effort they put into the match, the Swansea united players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Ashton-in-Makerfield.
