But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Ashley Webster couldn't finish the play. In the 12th minute the ball was on its way in behind Cleckheaton's goalkeeper Tris Long, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After having played for 14 minutes, Kev Foley managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Long Hanborough AFC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Kev Foley was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Long Hanborough AFC's Lawrence Moss proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 17th minute of the match, managed to save Long Hanborough AFC from getting a goal against them. Gerry Trunks took the ball and in the 18 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Tris Long. Tris Long dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. A collision led to Cleckheaton getting a freekick after 21 minutes play. Dion Busby hit a great ball. Kev Foley took the ball and in the 23 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Tris Long. Tris Long dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-2. Lawrence Moss made an important save on a dangerous shot by Eric Addison in the 29th minute. With a little luck, Long Hanborough AFC's Lawrence Moss got control of the ball when Brendon Mayfield tried to sneak it across the goal line. Carlton Emmerson received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 35th minute. Tris Long tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Neil Young had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 37th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Kev Foley stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Tris Long made a fantastic save in the 72nd minute, when Neil Young sent off a good shot on target. Lawrence Moss took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Eric Addison, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 82nd minute, Mickey Spencer hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Seth Edgson kicked well hit freekick during the 86th minute of the match. When Kev Foley came up free with the goalie in the 88th minute, the Long Hanborough AFC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Kev Foley couldn't finish the play. 93 minutes into the match, Cleckheaton's goalkeeper Tris Long had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Neil Young. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Long Hanborough AFC eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
