The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 5 played minutes Waltham Cross got a freekick which was hit by Junior Winterbine. The long shot by Damien Hendley in the 7th minute really tested Eric Brayford's skills. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. 8 minutes into the game, Graham Neville was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Waltham Cross's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Stone the free kick. A hard shot by Damien Hendley from long distance, 9 minutes into the match, got Eric Brayford's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. Marlon Tomkins fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 14th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Sean Drysdale having to interfere. Waltham Cross's Eric Brayford proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 17th minute of the match, managed to save Waltham Cross from getting a goal against them. 22 minutes into the game, Matthew Hutchins was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Stone's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Waltham Cross the free kick. Matthew Hutchins kicked well hit freekick during the 22nd minute of the match. Sean Drysdale showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Marlon Tomkins in the 30th minute of the match. After 31 played minutes Waltham Cross got a freekick which was hit by Francis Dixon. Eric Brayford didn't succeed in stopping the ball in the 33rd minute, which inside left pole to 1-0. Eric Brayford was a little too slow when Matthew Hutchins got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 36th minute. The score was now 2-0. After 40th play minutes Al Woodman shot 3-0, a short shot which went by Eric Brayford and just under the crossbar into goal. In the 45th minute, Luke Rockett got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Al Woodman received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 48th minute. Eric Brayford tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Af the end of the first half the score was 3-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.
The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Luke Rockett stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. 58 minutes into the match, Al Woodman notched a goal, 5-0, to the right of Waltham Cross's Eric Brayford. Eric Brayford was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Steve Younger scored 6-0 in the 62nd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Eric Brayford, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. When Luke Rockett, who was free, got the in front of the goal in the 67 minute he wasn't focused and tipped the ball just over the goal. The Eric Brayford was delighted since the ball would have got in if it had gone under the crossbar. Francis Dixon fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 74th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Sean Drysdale having to interfere. In the 77th minute the ball was on its way in behind Waltham Cross's goalkeeper Eric Brayford, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 79thth minute of the game Luke Rockett who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Waltham Cross's Eric Brayford was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. The supporters of Stone booed when Waltham Cross was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 81 match minutes in a wonderful position. Graham Neville didn't get a good kick on the ball. Eric Brayford showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Luke Rockett in the 84th minute of the match. 88 minutes into the match, Al Woodman had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Eric Brayford. Waltham Cross's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Al Woodman was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 7-0. In the 94th minute the ball was on its way in behind Waltham Cross's goalkeeper Eric Brayford, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Waltham Cross's Eric Brayford played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Luke Rockett in the 96th minute of play. Brad Adams kicked well hit freekick during the 97th minute of the match. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. Stone fully deserved thier win.
