Seating: 8, VIP seats: 0) Renton United's Fred Toovey started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Heckmondwike's Lucas Seaman played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Fred Toovey in the 5th minute of play. Grant Duff hit a great freekick 6 minutes into the match. Dave Metcalf's late challenge caught a Renton United's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Dave Metcalf helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Renton United booed when Heckmondwike was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 9 match minutes in a wonderful position. Dave Metcalf didn't get a good kick on the ball. Renton United's Jay Peat got a good chance for a goal in the 11th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Matthew Bartlett during the 12th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The supporters of Heckmondwike booed when Renton United was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 12 match minutes in a wonderful position. Matthew Bartlett didn't get a good kick on the ball. When Heckmondwike's Todd Brumfitt in the 15th minute got a chance for a shot 15th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A collision led to Heckmondwike getting a freekick after 19 minutes play. Barry Hassell hit a great ball. When the match had gone on for 20 minutes, Jay Peat put it in 1-0 from a short distance just to the right of Lucas Seaman. 24 minutes into the game, Grant Duff was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Renton United's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Heckmondwike the free kick. In the 24th match minute, Renton United was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Grant Duff to maneuver through the defense. The supporters of Heckmondwike booed when Renton United was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 29 match minutes in a wonderful position. Matthew Bartlett didn't get a good kick on the ball. Lucas Seaman showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Fred Toovey, who was totally free with the ball in the 36th minute. The supporters of Renton United booed when Heckmondwike was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 38 match minutes in a wonderful position. Vernon Crowther didn't get a good kick on the ball. 39 minutes into the match, Renton United's Mark Rowe broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. Stevie Senior kicked well hit freekick during the 40th minute of the match. 42 minutes into the game, Heckmondwike's Marlon Nightingale nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Damian Keane made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-1.
The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Todd Brumfitt stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Jay Peat took the ball and in the 54 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Lucas Seaman. Lucas Seaman dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-1. In the 61st minute, one of Heckmondwike:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Heckmondwike. When the match clock showed 67 minutes, the score became 5-1 when Fred Toovey sped through Heckmondwike's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Lucas Seaman. An unexpected shot in the 71st minute by Todd Brumfitt got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. Jay Peat received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 77th minute. Lucas Seaman tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 78th minute, Sammy Fields hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After having played for 84 minutes, Fred Toovey managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Renton United's supporters crossed their fingers, but Fred Toovey was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Fred Toovey kicked well hit freekick during the 87th minute of the match. Lucas Seaman took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jay Peat, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Dave Metcalf was shown his second yellow card after 91 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. If Jay Peat had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 96th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 98th minute Fred Toovey shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Lucas Seaman saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. Renton United had played much better football throughout.
