In the 11th minute Will Gregory shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Lewis Winstanley saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 13th minute, Hugh Ellerby managed to get in a good position for a shot. Paybridge Celtic's supporters rose to their feet, but Hugh Ellerby was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Alastair Hampton breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Billy Eubank could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 17th minute of the match, but Lewis Winstanley made a huge save. In the 18th minute, Jay Carter reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Lewis Winstanley. The goal made the score 1-0. With a little luck, Paybridge Celtic's Lewis Winstanley got control of the ball when Billy Eubank tried to sneak it across the goal line. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Loyd Boston during the 24th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 24th match minute, Paybridge Celtic was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Loyd Boston to maneuver through the defense. Lewis Winstanley was out of position in the 26 minute of play, and Jay Carter capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Jay Carter really showed his touch with that goal: 2-0. Burton upon Trent AFC's Alastair Hampton played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Hugh Ellerby in the 33rd minute of play. Hugh Ellerby fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 34th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Alastair Hampton having to interfere. In the 37th minute, Hugh Ellerby ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Alastair Hampton was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-1. Alastair Hampton took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Wesley Charles, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 45th minute of the match Kris Shipperley shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Alastair Hampton showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Jo Ambrose kicked well hit freekick during the 46th minute of the match.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Will Gregory was the one to do the kick off. Iain Steel received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 55th minute. Alastair Hampton tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 56 minutes into the game, Paybridge Celtic's Roy Dwyer nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Alastair Hampton made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-2. Kris Shipperley charged in rather forcefully in the 65th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Kris Shipperley the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 65th match minute, Paybridge Celtic was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Kris Shipperley to maneuver through the defense. Paybridge Celtic's Lewis Winstanley played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Nath Simpson in the 69th minute of play. Rodd Mulligan kicked well hit freekick during the 70th minute of the match. Martyn Swain took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 86th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Alastair Hampton. In the 87th minute, Jay Carter hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Alastair Hampton made a fantastic save in the 88th minute, when Roy Dwyer sent off a good shot on target. Roy Dwyer could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 91st minute of the match, but Alastair Hampton made a huge save.
