The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 4th minute, Rueben Osborn sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and Kettering Town FC's Noel Hopton didn't even have to move. Rueben Osborn hit a great freekick 9 minutes into the match. In the 13th minute, Franz Burrows hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 18th minute Ozzy Milton shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Noel Hopton saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Arsenio Udalaitz showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Kasey Carroll in the 25th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Kasey Carroll in the 27th minute of play forced Bristol Totterdown AFC's goalkeeper Arsenio Udalaitz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Neil Blueman fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 29th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Arsenio Udalaitz having to interfere. Raul Quiros hit a great freekick 31 minutes into the match. Franz Burrows struck a weak shot in the 34th minute. Noel Hopton didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Bristol Totterdown AFC. Arsenio Udalaitz showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Russ Marchant in the 43rd minute of the match. After having played for 45 minutes, Ozzy Milton managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Bristol Totterdown AFC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Ozzy Milton was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Kasey Carroll to make the kick off. After some fancy dribbling in the 50th minute, Raul Quiros managed to get in a good position for a shot. Bristol Totterdown AFC's supporters rose to their feet, but Raul Quiros was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Noel Hopton breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. If Franz Burrows had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 54th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After some careless play in the Kettering Town FC defense, Franz Burrows kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Noel Hopton. The Kettering Town FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Noel Hopton should have stopped the shot. Ozzy Milton struck a weak shot in the 58th minute. Noel Hopton didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Bristol Totterdown AFC. The supporters of Kettering Town FC booed when Bristol Totterdown AFC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 64 match minutes in a wonderful position. Leroy Tully didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 65th minute, Bristol Totterdown AFC's Leroy Tully seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Leroy Tully the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of Bristol Totterdown AFC protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Leroy Tully had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. In the 70th match minute, Bristol Totterdown AFC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Larry Wilmott to maneuver through the defense. When Neil Blueman came up free with the goalie in the 73rd minute, the Kettering Town FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Neil Blueman couldn't finish the play. Rueben Osborn hit a great freekick 74 minutes into the match. In the 77th match minute, Bristol Totterdown AFC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Wayne Edworthy to maneuver through the defense. Arsenio Udalaitz took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ivan Bartrup, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Larry Wilmott kicked well hit freekick during the 92nd minute of the match. If Gavin Fleming had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 97th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Bristol Totterdown AFC's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
