In the 2nd match minute, Barnes was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Pedro Serineu to maneuver through the defense. Pedro Serineu kicked well hit freekick during the 5th minute of the match. Nuno Ericeira sent away a hard shot on goal in the 15th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Rodrigo Maurito showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Nuno Ericeira in the 18th minute of the match. In the 31st minute, Nuno Ericeira ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Rodrigo Maurito was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. When Balduíno Fonseca came up free with the goalie in the 36th minute, the Whitby fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Balduíno Fonseca couldn't finish the play. Afonso Dikaté charged in rather forcefully in the 37th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Afonso Dikaté the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. A collision led to Barnes getting a freekick after 37 minutes play. Afonso Dikaté hit a great ball. Pedro Serineu received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 40th minute. Edmundo Fontão tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in Whitby's zone, Miguel Ezequiel Niz stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Edmundo Fontão came out of the goal and Miguel Ezequiel Niz tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The Barnes players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Whitby were winning 0-1.

The wind increased when Pedro Serineu made the kick off in the second half. When Pedro Serineu came up free with the goalie in the 52nd minute, the Barnes fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Pedro Serineu couldn't finish the play. Rodrigo Maurito made an important save on a dangerous shot by Balduíno Fonseca in the 70th minute. In the 70th match minute, Whitby was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Custódio Galão to maneuver through the defense. After having played for 76 minutes, Miguel Ezequiel Niz managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Barnes's supporters crossed their fingers, but Miguel Ezequiel Niz was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Pedro Serineu fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 77th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Edmundo Fontão having to interfere. Nuno Ericeira fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 79th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Rodrigo Maurito having to interfere. Balduíno Fonseca received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 82nd minute. Rodrigo Maurito tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Whitby's Edmundo Fontão played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Miguel Ezequiel Niz in the 88th minute of play. 89 minutes into the game, Jorge Almeida was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Whitby's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Barnes the free kick. In the 89th minute, Jorge Almeida hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 92nd minute, Barnes's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Balduíno Fonseca fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. The Barnes supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching Whitby's performance. The match ended with a win for Whitby.
