After a rather tough play, Sala's Bengt-Arne Söderberg got a free kick in the 3rd minute. In the 6th minute Arne Torstensson shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Nils-Åke Flinck saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Nils-Åke Flinck took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Mathias Eliasson, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Nils-Åke Flinck showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Petter Bogren in the 12th minute of the match. If Arne Torstensson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 19th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After some careless play in the Sala defense, Arne Torstensson kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Nils-Åke Flinck. The Sala fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Nils-Åke Flinck should have stopped the shot. In the 26th minute, Oskar Sjögren hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Oskar Sjögren charged in rather forcefully in the 30th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Oskar Sjögren the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 30th match minute, Hjo IK was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Oskar Sjögren to maneuver through the defense. Hjo IK's Oskar Sjögren suffered a sore thigh after 33 minutes and couldn't finish the game. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Marcus Vall during the 33rd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The supporters of Hjo IK booed when Sala was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 35 match minutes in a wonderful position. Marcus Vall didn't get a good kick on the ball. Nils-Åke Flinck made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Mathias Eliasson in the 41st minute of play. After the first half Hjo IK were leading 0-3. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

54 minutes into the match, Mathias Eliasson notched a goal, 0-4, to the right of Sala's Nils-Åke Flinck. Nils-Åke Flinck was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Thomas Öberg hit a great freekick 58 minutes into the match. Mathias Eliasson received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 62nd minute. Nils-Åke Flinck tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Sala's Bengt-Arne Söderberg got a free kick in the 67th minute. Philip Hedberg fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 68th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nils-Åke Flinck having to interfere. Patrik Tholsson might have been able to make a better finish in the 70th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Nils-Åke Flinck. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Patrik Tholsson ran back to his position shaking his head. Arne Torstensson received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 72nd minute. Nils-Åke Flinck tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Mathias Eliasson blasted a shot towards the goal in the 74th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Nils-Åke Flinck having to make a save. With a little luck, Sala's Nils-Åke Flinck got control of the ball when Patrik Tholsson tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 79th minute, Arne Torstensson got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. If Petter Bogren had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 82nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Patrik Tholsson struck a weak shot in the 86th minute. Nils-Åke Flinck didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Hjo IK. The supporters of Sala booed when Hjo IK was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 88 match minutes in a wonderful position. Olof Billock didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 89th minute of the match Anders Olofsson shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Herbert Stephansson showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. In the 92nd minute, Arne Torstensson left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Hjo IK fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-5. Mathias Eliasson fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 97th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nils-Åke Flinck having to interfere. When the match was over Hjo IK could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Sala throughout the match.
