The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Egon Samuelsson fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 4th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Erling Fredriksson having to interfere. Egon Samuelsson struck a weak shot in the 8th minute. Erling Fredriksson didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Mattan United. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Egon Samuelsson in the 12th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Erling Fredriksson prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Egon Samuelsson sent away a hard shot on goal in the 16th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Egon Samuelsson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 19th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Michael Ahlbeck in the 23rd minute of play forced Mattan United's goalkeeper Conny Broberg to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Michael Ahlbeck couldn't finish the play. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Egon Samuelsson to strike the kick off in the second half. A collision led to Holmsund IF getting a freekick after 52 minutes play. Alvin Alebeck hit a great ball. Erling Fredriksson took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Aleksander Jonasson, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Michael Ahlbeck received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 55th minute. Conny Broberg tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Michael Ahlbeck had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 58th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Dick Tidén fell near the penalty area in the 60th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Mattan United's protests and gave Dick Tidén a yellow card for diving instead. Dick Tidén kicked well hit freekick during the 60th minute of the match. In the 61st minute, Mattan United's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Alvin Alebeck fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. Conny Broberg made a fantastic save in the 66th minute, when Michael Ahlbeck sent off a good shot on target. Dick Tidén got his second yellow card in the match during the 66th minute which meant that he had to leave the ground. Dick Tidén hit a great freekick 67 minutes into the match. The audience thought a goal was coming when Michael Ahlbeck got free with Conny Broberg in the 69th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Conny Broberg made a fantastic save in the 72nd minute, when Michael Ahlbeck sent off a good shot on target. When the match had gone on for 73 minutes, Alvin Alebeck put it in 0-1 from a short distance just to the right of Conny Broberg. Aleksander Jonasson received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 81st minute. After a defensive mix-up in Holmsund IF's zone, Adam Busk stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Erling Fredriksson came out of the goal and Adam Busk tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Sixten Grubb hit a great freekick 83 minutes into the match. After 85th play minutes Alvin Alebeck shot 0-2, a short shot which went by Conny Broberg and just under the crossbar into goal. Michael Ahlbeck sent away a hard shot on goal in the 94th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 97th minute, Alvin Alebeck fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. The Holmsund IF players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
