Simon Skarkman hit a great freekick 3 minutes into the match. After 6 minutes of play Vännäsby IFK's Simon Skarkman was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. After a rather tough play, Vännäsby IFK's Simon Skarkman got a free kick in the 7th minute. In the 8th match minute, Vännäsby IFK was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Tony Vollander to maneuver through the defense. After some careless play in the Vännäsby IFK defense, Bengt Hjälm kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Boris Berggren. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Christian Åström couldn't finish the play. A collision led to Kumla BK getting a freekick after 34 minutes play. Wiktor Bennet hit a great ball. With a little luck, Kumla BK's Jan-Olof Linberg got control of the ball when Christian Åström tried to sneak it across the goal line. Bengt Hjälm recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 39th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After the first half Kumla BK were leading 1-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Christian Åström to make the kick off. 51 minutes into the game, Bengt Hjälm was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Kumla BK's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Vännäsby IFK the free kick. The supporters of Vännäsby IFK booed when Kumla BK was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 51 match minutes in a wonderful position. Bengt Hjälm didn't get a good kick on the ball. After having played for 53 minutes, Christian Åström managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Vännäsby IFK's supporters crossed their fingers, but Christian Åström was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Per-Olof Hermansson fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 57th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Boris Berggren having to interfere. Jan-Olof Linberg was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it.
