A collision led to Södra Mellby IF getting a freekick after 2 minutes play. Alfred Lönn hit a great ball. In the 3rd minute, Karl-Åke Broman got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Harry Gunnarsson kicked well hit freekick during the 5th minute of the match. Bo-Erik Lindgren showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Henry Pihlberg in the 11th minute of the match. A collision led to Södra Mellby IF getting a freekick after 14 minutes play. Eric Holmberg hit a great ball. Young boys's Magne Höijer proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 17th minute of the match, managed to save Young boys from getting a goal against them. After having played for 23 minutes, Eric Holmberg managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Södra Mellby IF's supporters crossed their fingers, but Eric Holmberg was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Henry Pihlberg in the 33rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Bo-Erik Lindgren saved Södra Mellby IF from getting behind. In the 34th minute of the match Young boys got a corner. Södra Mellby IF's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Per-Olof Blom ran over to the corner to take the kick. After taking down the ball on Young boys's corner Per-Olof Blom fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Bo-Erik Lindgren quite easily take care of the ball. When Alfred Lönn came up free with the goalie in the 36th minute, the Södra Mellby IF fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Alfred Lönn couldn't finish the play. In the 38th minute Eric Holmberg shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Magne Höijer saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Alfred Lönn in the 41st minute of play forced Young boys's goalkeeper Magne Höijer to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 43 minutes into the game, Alfred Lönn cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-0. Magne Höijer was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

Harry Gunnarsson hit a great freekick 52 minutes into the match. In the 55th minute of the match, Henry Pihlberg tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Bo-Erik Lindgren saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. In the 59th minute Harry Gunnarsson shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Magne Höijer saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Magne Höijer took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Eric Holmberg, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Alfred Lönn in the 72nd minute of play forced Young boys's goalkeeper Magne Höijer to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Magne Höijer showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Alfred Lönn, who was totally free with the ball in the 73rd minute. When Eric Holmberg came up free with the goalie in the 75th minute, the Södra Mellby IF fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Eric Holmberg couldn't finish the play. Alfred Lönn received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 77th minute. Magne Höijer tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Södra Mellby IF's Bo-Erik Lindgren played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Henry Pihlberg in the 79th minute of play. After 81 minutes, Cafu Moraes mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Young boys and the Södra Mellby IF players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 81st minute, Cafu Moraes hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Magne Höijer took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Eric Holmberg, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 84 minutes into the game, Södra Mellby IF's Eric Holmberg nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Magne Höijer made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-0. After 88 played minutes Södra Mellby IF got a freekick which was hit by Gustaf Skräddare. After a rather tough play, Södra Mellby IF's Alfred Lönn got a free kick in the 89th minute. Young boys's Magne Höijer played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gustaf Skräddare in the 96th minute of play. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. Södra Mellby IF fully deserved thier win.
