When Marius Fjeldberg came up free with the goalie in the 3rd minute, the Melsbø fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Marius Fjeldberg couldn't finish the play. Peter Neverdal received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 6th minute. Øivind Mentzoni tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Øivind Mentzoni made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Trond Havik in the 7th minute of play. Jon Bertelsen's late challenge caught a Sagfjord IL's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Jon Bertelsen helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to Melsbø getting a freekick after 8 minutes play. Jon Bertelsen hit a great ball. Trond Havik might have been able to make a better finish in the 10th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Øivind Mentzoni. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Trond Havik ran back to his position shaking his head. 11 minutes into the match, Sagfjord IL's Daniel Løvik broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. Sagfjord IL's Aslak Forbord played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Bendik Bakka in the 14th minute of play. In the 31st minute, Idar Leirvåg hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Peter Neverdal had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 36th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Trond Havik sent away a hard shot on goal in the 43rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 45th minute of the game. One of Melsbø:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Sagfjord IL:s goal.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Bendik Bakka to strike the kick off in the second half. After some fancy dribbling in the 54th minute, Trond Havik managed to get in a good position for a shot. Sagfjord IL's supporters rose to their feet, but Trond Havik was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Øivind Mentzoni breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Øivind Mentzoni came out of the goal in the 60th minute to try and stop a shot by Sagfjord IL's Trond Havik. But to his dismay, Trond Havik quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-0. If Marius Fjeldberg had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 65th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Sagfjord IL's Aslak Forbord played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Bendik Bakka in the 66th minute of play. If Marius Fjeldberg had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 67th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. If Trond Havik had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 70th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Peder Urdal struck a weak shot in the 72nd minute. Aslak Forbord didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Melsbø. Aslak Forbord showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Bendik Bakka in the 74th minute of the match. Øivind Mentzoni didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Sagfjord IL. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. Sagfjord IL had played much better football throughout.
