When Mikkel Hildre in the 9th play minute got the chance to kick a hard shot on goal from short distance neither the defense or Lars-Olav Berdal kept up with the ball and suddenly the score was 1-0 when the ball slipped into goal inside the left pole. If Stein-Roger Vatland had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 13th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a defensive mix-up in Rjukan IL's zone, Stein-Roger Vatland stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Lars-Olav Berdal came out of the goal and Stein-Roger Vatland tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Mikkel Hildre fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 27th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Lars-Olav Berdal having to interfere. Helge Skjolden hit a great freekick 32 minutes into the match. Lars-Olav Berdal showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Mikkel Hildre, who was totally free with the ball in the 34th minute. Stein-Roger Vatland received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 35th minute. Lars-Olav Berdal tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Espen Bjørge came up free with the goalie in the 40th minute, the Rjukan IL fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Espen Bjørge couldn't finish the play. If Espen Bjørge had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 42nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 44th minute, Espen Bjørge made a precise shot to the right of Nils-Arne Truong. Austbygd's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-1. Stein-Roger Vatland struck a weak shot in the 48th minute. Lars-Olav Berdal didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Austbygd.
The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Mikkel Hildre stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Lars-Olav Berdal took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Mikkel Hildre, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Stein-Roger Vatland received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 54th minute. Lars-Olav Berdal tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 57 minutes into the match, Austbygd's goalkeeper Nils-Arne Truong had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Cai Krogstad. In the 60th minute the ball was on its way in behind Austbygd's goalkeeper Nils-Arne Truong, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Lars-Olav Berdal came out of the goal in the 62nd minute to try and stop a shot by Austbygd's Mikkel Hildre. But to his dismay, Mikkel Hildre quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-1. Mikkel Hildre might have been able to make a better finish in the 73rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Lars-Olav Berdal. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Mikkel Hildre ran back to his position shaking his head. Mikkel Hildre's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Lars-Olav Berdal read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 75th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Espen Bjørge in the 78th minute of play forced Austbygd's goalkeeper Nils-Arne Truong to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 80th minute Mikkel Hildre shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Lars-Olav Berdal saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 83 minutes into the match, Mikkel Hildre had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Lars-Olav Berdal. Rjukan IL's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Mikkel Hildre was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 3-1. 88 minutes into the match, Cai Krogstad notched a goal, 3-2, to the right of Austbygd's Nils-Arne Truong. Nils-Arne Truong was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. In the 97th minute Stein-Roger Vatland shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Lars-Olav Berdal saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.
