The Austbygd fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Nils-Arne Truong should have stopped the shot. The Austbygd fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-1. Stein-Roger Vatland's late challenge caught a Sagfjord IL's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Stein-Roger Vatland helped the player get up and apologised. After 15 played minutes Austbygd got a freekick which was hit by Stein-Roger Vatland. After a defensive mix-up in Sagfjord IL's zone, Mikkel Hildre stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Aslak Forbord came out of the goal and Mikkel Hildre tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Aslak Forbord made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Stein-Roger Vatland in the 20th minute of play. Stein-Roger Vatland fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 21st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Aslak Forbord having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in Sagfjord IL's zone, Mikkel Hildre stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Aslak Forbord came out of the goal and Mikkel Hildre tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Austbygd's Mikkel Hildre got a good chance for a goal in the 26th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 28th minute, Stein-Roger Vatland made a precise shot to the right of Aslak Forbord. Sagfjord IL's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-2. After having played for 31 minutes, Mikkel Hildre managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Austbygd's supporters crossed their fingers, but Mikkel Hildre was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After 34 played minutes Sagfjord IL got a freekick which was hit by Idar Leirvåg. Mikkel Hildre fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 41st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Aslak Forbord having to interfere. Aslak Forbord stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Mikkel Hildre's shot from short distance in the 47th minute. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The wind increased when Trond Havik made the kick off in the second half. Stein-Roger Vatland's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Aslak Forbord read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 65th minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 67th minute, Stein-Roger Vatland managed to get in a good position for a shot. Austbygd's supporters rose to their feet, but Stein-Roger Vatland was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Aslak Forbord breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. When Joakim Salvesen fell near the penalty area in the 68th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Sagfjord IL's protests and gave Joakim Salvesen a yellow card for diving instead. Joakim Salvesen hit a great freekick 68 minutes into the match. The supporters of Austbygd booed when Sagfjord IL was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 72 match minutes in a wonderful position. Joakim Salvesen didn't get a good kick on the ball. Stein-Roger Vatland sent away a hard shot on goal in the 81st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The audience was convinced that Mikkel Hildre's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Aslak Forbord was relentless in the 83rd minute of the game. Aslak Forbord made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Mikkel Hildre in the 84th minute of play. After 86 minutes, Daniel Løvik mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Sagfjord IL and the Austbygd players grew even worse after the yellow card. Aslak Forbord went to the wrong direction when Svend Hellerud was taking care of the penalty kick which however missed the goal. In the 89th minute, Arne Sagstuen hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After having played for 93 minutes, Mikkel Hildre managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal.
