If Hauk Sannes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 3rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Albert Tømmervik in the 17th minute of play forced Skjelfjord's goalkeeper Joachim Oppegård to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 20th match minute, Skogen was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Martin Kjøsnes to maneuver through the defense. In the 24th minute Hauk Sannes shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jon-Arne Gilberg saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Joachim Oppegård didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Albert Tømmervik went, in the 28th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. With a little luck, Skogen's Jon-Arne Gilberg got control of the ball when Eric Thompson tried to sneak it across the goal line. Jon-Arne Gilberg made a fantastic save in the 33rd minute, when Eric Thompson sent off a good shot on target. If Hauk Sannes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 35th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 38th minute of the match, Hauk Sannes tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Jon-Arne Gilberg saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. Skjelfjord's Hauk Sannes got a good chance for a goal in the 40th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Eric Thompson could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 46th minute of the match, but Jon-Arne Gilberg made a huge save. In the 46th match minute, Skogen was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Hans-Erik Gullaksen to maneuver through the defense. Bent Kleiv charged in rather forcefully in the 48th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Bent Kleiv the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 48 played minutes Skjelfjord got a freekick which was hit by Bent Kleiv. After the first half Skogen were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Hauk Sannes made a kick off. Hauk Sannes struck a weak shot in the 54th minute. Jon-Arne Gilberg didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Skjelfjord. Albert Tømmerviks short, quick shot in the 57thth minute got Joachim Oppegård to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. If Eric Thompson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 66th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 69th minute, Martin Kilen got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Skjelfjord's Joachim Oppegård proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 80th minute of the match, managed to save Skjelfjord from getting a goal against them. Hauk Sannes sent away a hard shot on goal in the 87th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. If Hauk Sannes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 88th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 90th minute the ball was on its way in behind Skogen's goalkeeper Jon-Arne Gilberg, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Skogen had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
