Jan Wijngaart fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 3rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Youri Kemper having to interfere. The Simpelveld FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Jan van Fessum should have stopped the shot. After a defensive mix-up in Promes's zone, Jochem Lammens stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Youri Kemper came out of the goal and Jochem Lammens tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 28th minute of the match Alfred Spanjaard sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Youri Kemper skillfully saved the ball. 31 minutes into the match, Simpelveld FC's goal looked a bit too open when Marnix Spannenburg came free, but Jan van Fessum reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Jochem Lammens received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 34th minute. Youri Kemper tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After having played for 36 minutes, Emile Houwing managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Promes's supporters crossed their fingers, but Emile Houwing was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Jan Wijngaart's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Youri Kemper read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 37th minute of play. Youri Kemper took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jan Wijngaart, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Marnix Spannenburg received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 41st minute. Jan van Fessum tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 1-2 lead.

Youri Kemper showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jochem Lammens in the 52nd minute of the match.
