Arno Tellingen charged in rather forcefully in the 12th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Arno Tellingen the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Arno Tellingen kicked well hit freekick during the 13th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jasper Reinhard in the 14th minute of play forced Wittewerf's goalkeeper Gert Hofman to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Ton Compaan stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Werner Nibbelke's shot from short distance in the 15th minute. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Danny Kuypers during the 16th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After a rather tough play, Schoonheeten FC's Danny Kuypers got a free kick in the 16th minute. After a defensive mix-up in Schoonheeten FC's zone, Werner Nibbelke stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ton Compaan came out of the goal and Werner Nibbelke tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Arnout Hummel hit a great freekick 26 minutes into the match. 30 minutes into the match, Wittewerf's goal looked a bit too open when Hans Zoolingen came free, but Gert Hofman reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Bernard Wander hit a great freekick 32 minutes into the match. Wittewerf's Coos Aalst got a good chance for a goal in the 38th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. If Coos Aalst had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 40th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The audience was convinced that Werner Nibbelke's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Ton Compaan was relentless in the 42nd minute of the game. Danny Kuypers was shown his second yellow card after 45 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. Danny Kuypers kicked well hit freekick during the 46th minute of the match. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Hans Zoolingen to make the kick off. Coos Aalst's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Ton Compaan read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 53rd minute of play. Nathan Zielman charged in rather forcefully in the 59th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. Peter van Gessel helped the player get up and apologised. After 61 played minutes Schoonheeten FC got a freekick which was hit by Peter van Gessel. Hans Zoolingen struck a weak shot in the 64th minute. Gert Hofman didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Schoonheeten FC. When Coos Aalst, who was free, got the in front of the goal in the 66 minute he wasn't focused and tipped the ball just over the goal. The Ton Compaan was delighted since the ball would have got in if it had gone under the crossbar. After 68 played minutes Schoonheeten FC got a freekick which was hit by Nathan Zielman. 70 minutes into the game, Dirk Jan Dalman was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Wittewerf's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Schoonheeten FC the free kick. After 70 played minutes Wittewerf got a freekick which was hit by Dirk Jan Dalman. Norbert Puck kicked well hit freekick during the 75th minute of the match. Werner Nibbelke's late challenge caught a Schoonheeten FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Werner Nibbelke helped the player get up and apologised.
